T. Schwartz, Producer
Sara T. Schwartz holds an Honors Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton
University in Canada, where she majored in film documentary. For
the past six years, she has been working as a Development professional
in the non-profit community, and specializes in business development.
In this period Sara has raised over $6 million for various non-profit
organizations and provided strategic planning, financial analysis
and strategy implementation that has been critical to the recovery
of organizations on the brink of closure. Currently, she is the
Executive Director of A Traveling Jewish Theatre. She moved to San
Francisco from Toronto where she worked as Director of Marketing
for Artsmarketing Services Inc., a direct marketing firm. Prior
to that position, she worked at Canada's National Arts Centre where
she raised and oversaw the $1.2 million Annual Fund.
Her producing credits include five large-scale theatre productions
in Ottawa, Canada and several short journalistic documentaries.
She is also the founder and former Executive Director of Creative
Juices, an arts camp and after-school program. Sara produced and
directed The Calling, a film documentary on the topic of religion
in a secular society.
Mikayla Lev, Director
Mikayla Lev is a peace builder, artist, filmmaker and creative visionary.
She is the founder of the ICU. She co-directed and produced Living
in Conflict (livinginconflict.com) a feature length documentary
about the lives of five Israeli and Palestinian individuals, which
premiered at the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival and the Montreal
World Film Festival in 2002. In 2003, She returned to Israel and
Palestine as the videographer for “Music for Little People”
to help them create a children’s CD with Israeli and Palestinian
kids and famous musicians around the country. Mikayla has filmed
in many locations around the world including Japan, Mongolia, China
and Brazil. In 2002 she was sponsored as a cinematographer to film
at the World Social Forum in Brazil, which aired on Worldlink TV.
In 2000, She traveled to China as the sound person on "Beginning
Anew," award winning filmmaker Thomas Luchinger’s documentary
about Vietnamese Buddhist Thich Nhat Hahn’s journey to China.
In addition, She worked for 2 years as a videographer for Urban
Arts, an organization for at risk youth in Oakland, California.
In 1998, She raised the funds and was the co-coordinator for a large
public art Peace Wall project with 20 Palestinian and Israeli youth
in Jerusalem.
She is a graduate of the California College of Arts and Crafts where
she studied Film and Video and holds an undergraduate degree from
the University of Vermont and the Tel Aviv University in English
Literature and Political Science.
Guy Lieberman, Consultant
Guy Lieberman has been directing and coordinating organizations,
festivals, films and conferences across the globe dedicated to uplifting
the human spirit. Through his experience in the field of event management,
sustainable project design and implementation, media production
and networking, Guy offers a unique strategic approach to taking
a vision from concept to manifestation. As an independent producer,
Guy has consulted for and produced magazine shows and documentaries
on spiritual, cultural, and healthier living topics. Productions
he has worked on have been broadcast on global networks, including
Pan European Cable on UPC's Innergy channel, South African Broadcasting
Corporation (SABC), Wisdom Media, Channel 2 (Israel), and in Canada
and Australia.
From 1995 to 1998, Guy directed the Dewachen Tibetan Cultural Centre
in Johannesburg, South Africa, which he co-founded. The organization
function was to create connections between South Africa's political
leadership, public, and media and inspire them toward the support
of the Tibetan freedom struggle. Between 1997 and 1999, Lieberman
was Co-Director of the PeaceJam Foundation, South Africa. PeaceJam
brings together high school students from communities torn by violence
with Nobel Peace Laureates, to create an apprenticeship in peacemaking.
In November of 2004 Guy was liaison for the third visit of HH the
Dalai Lama to South Africa, who came on the invitation of the African
Cultural Heritage Trust.
Presently, Guy is producing and directing Universal Face, a ten-part
Jewish music documentary. Guy continues to work on creating and
producing content for documentary films, together with his teams
in Israel, South Africa, and the USA.
MJ Greenmountain, Composer
MJ Greenmountain is an accomplished vocalist, songwriter, hand drummer
& percussionist, film score composer, and ceremonial song/chant
leader and musical director. He is a lead vocalist, percussionist
& founding member of the world music band HAMSA LILA
(www.hamsalila.com), which has enjoyed much success in the Western
US, and has headlined many West Coast festivals, and has opened
for artists like Femi Kuti, Jane’s Addiction, and more. He
helped create a world music school in Los Angeles (Sangeet
School of World Music & Dance) and is the lead performer in
his own musical project "mojoi". He has written
original music for three feature films (“Omaha – the
movie” “Killers” and “Just Add Love”)
and two documentaries (“Living in Conflict” and "River
of Love.") As a performing artist, MJ has played with Michael
Franti & Spearhead, Ozomatli, Mickey Hart, String Cheese Incident,
Karsh Kale, Sound Tribe Sector Nine, Andrew Tosh, Babatunde Olatunji,
P. Shrinivasan, Hassan Hakamoun, Tina Malia, and many others.
Ginny Barker, Research
Ginny Barker is an artist, educator, and facilitator. She has extensively
studied the arts, sustainability, and community based education
models. Ginny began her college education at Aptos California’s
Cabrillo College where she studied Early Childhood Education, and
Performance Art. Later, she moved on to study Environmental Art
and Education and received her BA from New College of California’s
North Bay campus in Sustainability Culture and Ecology. For the
past 10 years has worked as a children’s teacher, designing
curriculums to promote Eco-literacy, social justice, community building
and cultural awareness thru the arts. She has extensively worked
with many performance arts groups to produce, manage and direct
performances that raise awareness and empowerment around these issues.
For the pats 2 years she has traveled to Mexico numerous times to
document and research positive cultural exchange between Mexico
and the United States, and to help facilitate community building
and solidarity between the neighboring countries. Currently she
is working with ICU on production coordination, research and photo
documentation.
Amber Howard, Research
Amber Howard is a cultural bridge builder and social activist who
works to translate, interview and document people’s stories.
Through both Spanish and English she strives to bring forth the
voice of the silenced peoples, connecting ideas and visions with
concrete reality. Her most recent journey has taken her through
Mexico as a journalist reporting for Narco News with the caravan
in “The Other Campaign”, the Zapatista “listening
tour,” focusing on uniting indigenous peoples contemporary,
real life struggles. Past endeavors include community enrichment
projects in rural Honduras and teaching classes in inner city Peru.
Other interests include food justice, environmental racism, and
organic farming. She is currently participating in the creation
of a new vision of farming-- a farm worker’s collective. A
graduate of Fairhaven College, Western WA University, and the University
of Cadiz in Spain, Amber received a BA in Spanish.
